Yes they just happened to cover up his 4th finger perfectly...

...and they accidentally make a vein shaped exactly like the logo...

...and it was a complete coincidence that said accidents were placed adjacent to each other...

...and all of these just mysteriously occurred amidst rumors of Half Life 2: Ep. 3 circulating?

ep3 is already confirmed. for long time actually.

why does it matter if they are bringing it up at E3? it wont mean its coming any faster then before.

No, it wouldn't, but it would be the first bit of the game ever shown to the public. It's nice to see a bit of what the game will be like even if no one will play it for a long time.
