Once you do what you are required to do, the Steam overlay will appear with the internet browser open and it'll have the Aperture login page on it, just click where it says 'password:' and make sure you see the green blinking 'typing' cursor and type in the password and hit the Enter key to enter it, once it's entered, the page will change to show a message confirming it and the game you're playing will download an update, that's when you know that you've entered the password correctly and you now have a potato on your Steam profile
