Everything. Pyro loses it's trusty close range weapon and it's anti-pyro weapon. As such, it promotes WM1ing because that's your only form of up-close combat now. You trade off a great weapon, the shotgun, for some stuffty weapon so you can spam flares and look like you're being useful.

I didn't say I was relying on the crit hits.
It's just something that helps.
It's a better ranged weapon than the shotgun.

And besides, if I wanted to go Shotgunning I'd go Enigneer since it's proven that the Pyro's shotgun is the slowest.
