Author Topic: Aliens  (Read 7923 times)

I think 2 things:

1.  They will probably be more intelligent than us if they find us, but if we find them, we will most likely be more intelligent.

2.  Some alien single cell organisms probably landed on our planet from meteors already, I would bet.
Humanoids are one of those single celled organisms that landed on this planet millenniums ago.

A book I read recently with the author's own idea of aliens, and I agree with it.

Setting

In the book, humankind experiences large-scale confrontations with a largely unknown alien race called Formics (often referred to as "buggers") who nearly wipe out humanity. As a result, humankind enters a shaky alliance to combat the Formics with the formation of an international military unit, the International Fleet (IF). In the futuristic setting, humankind develops interstellar travel, faster-than-light communication (derived from the ansible from Ursula K. Le Guin's works), various new weapons and defense mechanisms, and control over gravity. Earth is governed by three separate bodies, the Hegemon, Polemarch, and Strategos, which compete for dominance during the war.

The book is called Ender's Game.

There are aliens somewhere out their posting on a forum on their own internet asking the same thing. :o

If they have the power to travel through space reasonably, then they probably have the power to fight from orbit. They wouldn't need to land, they could just burn our planet.
If you read the Halo books, you'd know the Covenant would always land on planets to either look for "relics" or disable planetary defense platforms in space from the ground.

If they find nothing, or succeed in disabling the orbital defenses, they just glass the planet.

"Hey quagzar, what should we do with earth?"
"Let's invade it and spend an absurd amount of resources trying to pacify the inhabitants!"
"Nah, let's just blow it the forget up."

It's impossible to tell what they'll be like.

If they can travel several thousand/million/billion lightyears in a spacecraft... I'd say they would be pretty damn advanced.

Judging how we treat each other in the world, I don't think they would take kindly to us being a war-like, greedy species. If we treat each other like stuff why should they treat us any better?

Our governments will lose their stuff and we'll attempt communication but they'll do something like try to communicate back and we'll view it as potential hostility and be like, "HOLY FU- NUKE THE BASTARDS!"

I'm sure they can do loads of crap we can't.

what if some aliens came here millions of years ago to start a colony lost communication and evolved into what we are today? I also dont think they would waste there time to destroy us. I also think we may become friends to the aliens.

I think they would more than likely be friendly, considering what it took to get to this planet, their supplies would be exhausted.

Half of humans are bastards, So i expect half of aliens are too.

it funny becuse this topic makes me want to play mech warrior

The aliens would most likely not even have eyes. Or not the type of eyes we are used to. They would have something unimaginable.

I don't think aliens would be inherently hostile necessarily. If they were worse than us they'd kill themselves the second they harnessed atomic energy.
