Pre-Thread Notice:This thread discusses the very itty bitty insides of computers. Feel free to use this thread for advice as well and feel free to ask about additional information, but please, if you don't know what you're talking about, don't talk at all because chances are you'll just cause a clusterforget for yourself.
You may see some shortened looking terms like CPU, HDD and PSU. Hover your mouse over them in the list to see what they mean/do (but don't PMS a blood-flowing Niagra Falls if I'm not defining it right)
Note: The below text is unnecessary junk now. Please disregard this, it sucks roosters. So in light of graduating school I was given the option to either put a list together for a $1000 custom-built desktop or a $1000 laptop for gaming/school. We looked for good gaming laptops and I've been told from friends and people IRL who own gaming laptops that it's not exactly a good investment for the long run (4-6 years).
In the end I chose to keep my Dell Latitude D610 for school and incredibly light 2D gaming and decided on upgrading my desktop.
Now there were four things I was positively sure about upgrading.
-Motherboard, because LGA775 is becoming outdated since the Core 2 family.
-CPU, because its an LGA775 Core 2 Duo.
-RAM, because they are different speeds and DDR2.
-Hard Drive, because I'm frequently running out of space and having to uninstall games to install more.
Unnecessary stuff stops here, below is the list I've chosen out and will order next week.I put together a list of VERY, very high end parts in my opinion. Please feel free to point out any flaws in the list and correct me if you feel it is of utmost importance.
