Author Topic: Shotgun Sniper !READ OP!  (Read 13256 times)

We got two decent weapon requests:Shotgun Sniper and 27 Barrel Shotgun.

This completely contradicts his idea. Guys, his idea is a sniper rifle that shoots a single bullet, and if the bullet has time time to travel, when it reaches a certain radius of a player, it fragments into several bullets, giving it the ability to damage and kill several players, and to give a greater chance of hitting the enemy if your shot was off. His idea is not a sniper with mouse1 and a shotgun with mouse2, and his idea certainly isn't a sniper round that suddenly changes into a still accurate slug when near the enemy, because that would be pointless.

This really would be overpowered, because it can let you kill multiple people, thus also blowing your cover easier. With a slug, it fires one projectile, if it hits a player, it is an instant kill in long distance, because the impact if loving superior to a normal sniper and because the slugs is huge for a round. But, if you go too far, gravity literally throws this to the ground after it's maximum distance , due to the size and length of the slug.

With regular shotgun shells, the effectiveness of the sniper is reduced at long distances, people are or likely to miss, if used at medium range, it can insta-kill multiple, like a rocket launcher or a grenade, you are more likely to be detected by surivors.

Both would have bad recoils, scopes, and would have to reload by a single rounds into a slot on the underside, that can hold up to 6-8 rounds and can be fired with after only reloading 1 shell or more.

Which one would you rather have?

Basically, this shotgun sniper remains a sniper within a radius. As long as the target is in this radius, the shooter has to aim spot-on. But what about those people who are far enough away that they can see the shot coming and then move out of the way? Well, if they are out of the radius, as soon as the projectile reaches the end, it will fragment, making it harder to dodge.

This is not always the case. If you release it too early or if it fragments automatically, the fragments would spread out too far to have a real effect. Thus making it easier to dogde.

It would release automatically, but manual release would be pretty cool as well.

Also, fragmentation would occur at the "limit" of the sniper, giving it extra "oompf". It would be pretty much ineffective after that, but the shotgun effect would help to correct any slight errors in aiming.

So noobs can get this gun, aim it at someone, with it being off a bit, fie it, they kill the person and don't suffer any consequences if it missed from a real sniper. Sound like a great improvement in the persons aim!

Only if the target is outside the radius. If the target is inside the radius, then the shot has to be spot-on. Mas o menos, it's still a regular sniper.

This sniper isn't a regular sniper, because it can carry shotgun shells, which gives it a radius larger for a kill.

This also would make it easier for people to snipe an enemy, and yet, the best snipers are the ones that required to take your time in aiming and make it harder for you to get an accurate shot, due to gravity, wind, etc.

Ok, let me get this straight. This is Blockland, not real life. Things can happen in game that wouldn't normally happen in real life. With this being said:

The sniper fires projectiles that may or may not be shotgun shells. It doesn't really matter as they will be treated like a regular sniper bullet. Upon reaching a certain radius, the projectile will spawn several more projectiles. These new projectiles will spread away from the initial shot.

This will not give the shooter a larger radius for a kill, but instead, make it slightly easier to achieve a kill that is at a farther range.

Also, "best" is a word subject to change and prejudice. You could think "best" means realistic, while I think "best" means easiest to use.

All I'm saying is that just because you don't like this add-on doesn't mean it shouldn't be made. Don't download it if you don't want it.

wind plays no effect here, and gravity rarely takes effect here. Stop saying it's overpowered, because bullet damage can easily be altered. We aren't saying each shotgun fragment will deal 400 damage, more like 15-20 per fragment, with 5 or 6 fragments. As for you talking about 'skill of a sniper', who cares? So you should only be able to use the military rifle if you have 7 years experience in first person shooting sniping?

It's not that you should require experience to use weapons, but you want to get better with aiming so you can get better.

Gravity does play an effect after a certain amount of time. Just because this is Blockland, doesn't mean gravity isn't applied. Take the AS-50 for example.

it's rare that weapons have gravity though. Only GC's and bushidos weapon packs have gravity. And idk about you, but I don't play games so I can get better at them. I play if they are fun, and then I get better at them naturally :D

I love the idea.
I support.

Heck, I could even work on a model in cooperation with another modeler.

I was thinking it would have a much, much larger, single barrel, as opposed to a normal shotgun.  After all, it does have to spit up.  I'd make the projectile evoke that too.

Well, this has become a little argument i see with three people.
I dont check forums often, buuuut

Killer, theres a sniper, Minigun, and Shotgun that kill you all in one hit (excluding the minigun, but it shoots fast, so they dont get a chance to fight back, and then they die). THIS gun is supposed to not be a juggernaut weapon, but a weapon that isnt overpowered but not weak either.
It also cant kill a lot of people at a time, because the idea was that the bullet did more damage (25 to 15) than the shells (10 to 5 each), but the shells had more bullets AND It spread. The bullet is also not useless of its damage because once a player is right up in their face, its the same amount to two and a half shells or it could be one and a half shells.
But in most cases, the shotgun part kills more effectively than the sniper bullet because there has to be a small or medium reload time, Each shot should be 2 shots then reload, or one shot then reload.
