Wrong. Silencers can lower the sound by about 30 decibels (by lowering the velocity of the gas escaping the barrel). You're right them not working nearly as good as they do in the media, but they are more effective then you make them seem.
Try not typing inside a quote. I just looked it up and you're right, I overexaggerated a bit with the 1 decibal thing, fixing it.

Am I the only one who thinks real-life dirt cloud grenade explosions are so much more cool looking then fireballs?

Generally, you use suppressors with subsonic rounds to eliminate the muzzlecrack, this leaves only the sound of the action which in itself, is quite noisy. Though that funky russian revolver with gas sealed rounds was near-silent due to the above methods and with the quiet revolver action.
But yes, even the best silencers will only turn it into an ambiguous thumping, like someone punching a pillow but louder.

Shotgun silencers do a pitiful job, this is why few, if any exist.

No I <3 them too.

I agree. The fire makes it look tacky.

Not particularly, in-fact it was designed to be cheap to produce, HOWEVER H&K are pretty goddamn greedy, which is one reason why we don't use their weapons (they're expensive, only Special Forces uses the MP5). It had tons of issues with it, and was suspended and altered, but eventually straight-up cancelled by the US Army for numerous reasons, another being that it's produced by a German company.

tl;dr It was a broken hunk of stuff with a big price tag made in Germany designed to dupe the US Army, but was cancelled because we're not handicapped and instead had Colt (an American company) design and build our weapons.

I don't think SF even use the Mp5 anymore. We do use a gun by H&K though, a few months back the USMC had a "competition" in search for a new squad automatic/Infantry automatic rifle weapon and a variant of the HK416 won.

in response to the scoped magnum, I imagine it is difficult to use those since, the kick on a magnum tends to be strong and holding it up to your face...

Wait why was the Mp5 bad?

Wait why was the Mp5 bad?
It probably has to do with its price tag and that it fires the 9mm. The problem with the 9mm is that it can't penetrate body armor, and it does less damage to muscle tissue because of how fast it travels.

No, dirt explosions are so much more realistic. Explosion =/= fire, explosion = rapid release of gas.

How is the bold a negative?

That's what he was saying.

Popular guns like Kalashnikovs are popular for a reason. Popular guns like the AA-12 or the Armsel Striker are popular for absolutely no reason. Lesser known weapons are not well known also for a reason.

Considering you don't hold your eye TO the scope to use it unless you want your eye gouged out, it's fine. You typically are a few inches away from a scope.

Yeah, we use the HK416 and the HK Mark 23.
