So there would be wheels for winter, summer and solar panels? :o

Because it will always be night for winter.

You could always cover them with another thin sheet of something, like plastic.

Water and electricity running actively through wires..?

The wires would short, not burst into flames.

How long may this sheet of plastic last.

We want long term usage and affordable ways.

tires are also petroleum based(as far as I remember anyway), so even though tires would probably have pretty good traction on glass, we need a new material for tires.
Don't get me wrong though, I love the idea and I'd love if they could do that, it's just, expensive, it'd take many years to replace all roads.

We have the technology, but big business would be out of the job

Heck yea I support this it would look nice at night.

Never thought of it that way. Lightshows on the road would be cool although it would probably make people crash or give them seizures. :/

well....

im pretty sure the original person got the idea from sunnyshore city in pokemon platnium(the one where the overhead roads are solar panels.)

That would look hideous

Supposively they would pay for themselves in the long-run and you don't have to swap the all out at one time. Just gradually change out the roads and in a few decades we could cover the U.S. in Solar Panel roads.

By then we'll have a new way to create energy which works 100x better than solar panels.
And we'll have to take them all out.
