Minecraft would be pretty cool with quest NPCs
ie "Go into this cave and get x amount of iron ore for me, and I'll give you a bow and x arrows"

Start out customizing your character, choose a class out of many ( example: Doctor can aid for money, Boxer has +5 melee) Then go out and kill zombies, do missions like going far to cities and finding a diamond necklace. Badass game man.
