back when the only pirated games that existed were the SNES ones, nintendo made anti piracy sutff in their games, and earthbound was the most starfish ever when it comes to anti piracy
first, enemies appear even on safe zones
second, enemies appear ALOT
third, sometimes the game crashes when trying to enter a place
fourth, if you somehow manage to get to gyigas while doing this, before starting the final fight, the game will crash, and when you reset your game, all your save files are gonna be erased

seriously, what the forget is wrong with you guys

It probably wasn't copy protection that was breaking it, the game was probably hacked to be harder and it was less stable.

not exactly, there were 2 versions of earthbound, a catridge that had the anti piracy stuff removed and the one with it
nintendo added that stuff into the game on purpose, to make the game less enjoyable and not being able to finish it

That's not true, I got banned for mentioning I liked the private server of a game.

Anyways, my worst crash would have to be when I was playing oblivion, almost destroyed a gate, and for some reason it never autosaved and I lost all data after :/

No error message, just everything freezes to a halt. Input is ineffective and animations stop in their tracks.

It is copy protection, it detected if you were running on an official cart.

Normally when GMOD crashes it only crashes to desktop then breaks the piece of stuff STEAM software it runs on.
