Author Topic: Garry's Mod - What's It Like?  (Read 1323 times)

I've seen a crap-load of YouTube Machinima on Garry's Mod, but always wondered what the game was like. I hope I got the right forum here..

It's a sandbox game featuring many gamemodes and addons.

It's a sandbox game featuring many elitists and starfishs.

Four people, each one of them are an individual type of garrysmod, they look at a contraption.

"Hey there, i like your contraption, want to see mine too?

OMG LOL FUNI CONTRAPTION LETS SEE WHAT HAPPENS WITH EXPLODE TOOL WEE

This is a terrible contraption, it doesn't use wire at all!

EXPLOSIVE BARRELS ARE ILLEGAL NOOB

Can you teach me how to make that?

That's not to say that gmod sucks though, it's a great game.

this has happened to me so many times

It has a terrible add-on system and you need to have almost every source game ever to join a server without seeing error models everywhere.

Single Player is the bomb.

What the forget are you talking about? The add-on system is extremely easy. If the file you're downloading is in add-on format (the main folder has a info.txt in it) you just place the folder into add-ons.
And, you need almost every Source game to join a server without error models everywhere? I doubt that. Most servers only use Half-Life 2 and CSS content. Sometimes Team Fortress 2. If you have those two/three, you should download Wire and Phoenix Storms Model Pack from SVN and you're good to go.

Single player is the best for sandbox, unless you have friends to play with.  Also, single player has the toybox, where you can spawn entities from the internet directly from the game!
