I support this. Guns that have a max muzzle velocity of 200 bps is crazy :s

That allays annoyed me. I wanted to remove it from the get go.

There's an ocean of difference between realism and wanting sniper rifles that shoot bullets that can go faster than 500 metres (estimate bro) a minute

Okay lets make the max speed 10. Because we don't want realism right? Let's make things completely ridiculous.

I'm actually referring to this:

Real bullets almost travel like a raycast, this would help for sniper rifles because it doesn't take 10 seconds for a bullet to reach the other side of a map, and it also doesn't take 0 seconds.

I actually support the suggestion of raising the max value, but not too much. Somehow between 400-800

Faster position updates, unless you want your bullets to sometimes go through things without hurting them, you're going to have to make it cut on performance to go any faster.

But if people were sensible, and only increased the speed on snipers, this wouldn't be a problem.

I'm pretty sure that a machine gun firing 3 bullets a second is going to cause more position updates than any sniper.

I guess you mean it has to check for collisions in a bigger area. But that area wouldn't be that much bigger that it instantly causes lag or anything. And if it really would incerease or cause lag (what I doubt), it's possible to reduce a projectiles lifetime, or to set a lower projectile-per-client limit.

The limit should be at least incereased to 400 - 500 imo.
