don't start topics like these because it'll bring people who don't give a stuff about animals and there'll be a bigass controversy about animals having feelings
anyway, my take on animals and feelings
yeah, i know, im kind of straying away from cruelty but i talked to someone about this before and im just gonna say it
because i know someones going to bring up the idea that animals have no feelings or thoughts
obviously animals have feelings
but it depends on the animal
what is probably the most basic emotion/instinct is fear
insects probably have a very simple form of this, as they will flee from large objects.
Except those really loving annoying giant-ass flies that won't go away if you threaten to smash it.
Which I wouldn't want to do because it'd be loving gross.
Anyway, animals with a level of intelligence around cats and dogs probably have more human-like emotions such as anger, compassion, loyalty, and curiosity
The existence of emotions in animals depend on whether or not they need those emotions to survive.
Animals that live in packs or can live socially like cats and dogs (cats actually do form 'clans' sometimes. theyre not always solitary. this is seen in feral cat colonies.)
dogs obviously have a strong dependence on living together, with a strong pack mentality.
often emotions are essential for survival.
anger - in nature this is used as a last resort when backed away into somewhere you cannot flee from
or anger could be used when faced with a difficulty or an annoyance among societies, creating discipline. not sure if im talking stuff at this point or not.
sadness - negative reinforcement. you probably will try and prevent something from happening if it caused you sadness before.
happiness - positive reinforcement.
grief - sadness, negative reinforcement, your brain telling you that you should not let your peers die.
yes, even cats feel grief. if you ask Mr. Lol he'll give you a great example.
fear - prevents you from doing things that instinct(over years instinct has evolved to view things that are often dangerous to be dangerous, as those without this instinct died and didn't continue their genetic code to their less useful brain structure)/common sense tells you are dangerous.
meh im bored
imma leave this thread it sounds dangerous and if i even read anything (i didn't) from this topic it'd either piss me off, make me a bit too involved, or make me depressed
bye
