Author Topic: Why is Halo so Loved?  (Read 6059 times)

Timesplitters was my first FPS bitch, get that stuff out of here.
It was mine too.

Goldeneye was my first.

Get at me.

Timesplitters was a half decent rip-off of Goldeneye, if I remember right.

Quake 64 and Doom 64 were my first FPS games :)

Tom

Well I guess Goldeneye 64 was my first but all I did was put the remote mines in the toilets and blew them up.

ITT: People who think they're cool because their first fps was by rare/free radical.  Halo is a damn fun game.  You can't deny that, stop trying to get e-points by saying it sucks.  The reason halo was so loved because it was one of the best first online FPSes on consoles.
BTW: Blockland was actually my first FPS.

I played the first Halo game and beat it. I was pretty young and didn't die often, which was saying something for the age I was. This was on the PC, of course, since it was made by my bros and dad. It ran better than the Xbox and at higher settings, and I played games on it whenever I got the chance. (lol spoiled kid)

Anyway, Halo 2 came out and the PC port wasn't scheduled to come out until months later (from what I remember). I wasn't eager to use an Xbox as a gift opportunity just to play Halo 2, since the original never held my interest for more than a week or so.

A while later, I played it a bit at a friend's house, and I don't remember it being too much different, other than the fact that I was considerably bad at it because of the fact that I was aiming with thumbs as opposed to a hand. I was pretty turned off at that point, and never payed much attention to the rest of the series afterwords.
I guess I was just a spoiled Valve kid who would rather play Half-Life on his supercomputer rather than Halo on a console. The game was neat and all, but I just had other things to play. There's also the fact that I get more satisfaction from solving a puzzle in a game rather than just running into a room and shooting anything that moves.

I guess I don't understand it much either, so I guess I'm just not a Halo guy.

BANSHEES! FAST AND LOW!

Anyways, I like Halo because of the forge feature and custom games. the reason being is that I play with my cousin and we laugh all day for some reason.

Yeah you don't agree with them, that obviously means they hate it to be cool. I mean Marcem is always right, right?

Tom

Anyone else remember the days when Halo weapons would be rejected by the community because "stuff from other games shouldn't be bright into Blockland"?

I mean Marcem is always right, right?
mhm. freedom of opinion is so totally yesterday.

i play Halo for 2 reasons: the soundtrack, and the epic storylines and cinimatics. Gameplay is also quite great.

That was 3 reasons...
