Author Topic: Half-Life movie?  (Read 4583 times)

I'd watch a team fortress 2 movie, their "Meet the" are really great movie material.

Tom

I think it would be cool to have a movie based of the Half Life universe. Just not based around any of the story.

There's quite a few fake previews on Youtube, but it seems like a good idea once you think about it.

Both Half-Life and HL2 are good, but I think Half-Life would make a better movie because:
1) Simpler plot
2) More violence/gore (sadly, some people look for that in movies)
3) The Half-Life series is awesome anyway
4) 3D special effects will almost certainly be necessary, and a select movie audience also looks for movies with realistic effects above the plot (sadly)

Cons:
1) Gordon's voice. Even if they decide to get a voice actor, some fans may not like how he sounds
2) A big part of the game is what you do yourself, so having actors/special effects do it for you may be tricky

But in general, if you get past the cons, it seems like a really good movie idea.

Also, Modern Warfare 2 seems like a good movie, considering the great plot and how war movies tend to do well. But no matter what, the movies will have to be altered in many ways, considering the plot is based off a plot where you do most of the things yourself.

Note: this is about a possible movie about 2 great videogames. Keep hate rants about HL2 and MW2 to another topic...

the forget?

This would work. Plus it could add to the original story without hurting the game.

The plot was actually good...

Noob jess.

Hey, I'd go see it. Probably only for the Shepherd part.

It's going to be another war based movie with a story based on a game with persons and props based on the games universe. That's going to get an Oscar!

never said it would be a good movie  :cookieMonster:

I feel the game is a cinematic experience itself.  Its so in depth that I don't need a stuffty remake.
I'm saying that the general idea of Half-Life and MW2 would make a great movie, not copying the game's exact attributes, like first-person/main character doesn't have a voice. Also, don't assume it'll be stuffty. As I pointed out, these could do pretty well if it's made right

eh

It doesn't seem as movie-fit as HL or MW2. It's a cartoony FPS online game, not an exciting long plot.

A book-movie couldn't be too different from a game-movie, and there were quite a few that really kicked ass (see: Harry Potter).

If a Half Life movie was made, I would want the voice actor from Freemans mind to do it.

Tom

I would want there to be only 3 scientist actors and 1 security guard actor so it's just like the game.
