Yup. You shouldn't need a new monitor. As far as gaming goes there really isn't too much of a difference between the 750 and 950 - maybe a few FPS.

On a side note, if it performs 80fps with an i5 and 100000fps with the 950 you really wouldn't see a difference. Just about every monitor right now has a refresh rate of around 60mhz. Most monitors that refresh faster are very expensive or quite old.

Youch, that sucks. Either save up longer or try and salvage any parts you can from older computers. Is that laptop all you have?

If you're lazy and don't want to build a CPU, buy the HP Pavilion Elite and HP 2159m monitor. Thats what I have.

No because that motherboard uses LGA 1156. The i7-950 uses LGA 1366.

For Intel processors the current common socket types are LGA 775, LGA 1156, and LGA 1366. They are incompatible with each other and a motherboard only supports one type. It's clearly listed under the specifications under every motherboard though. The i7-760 is LGA 1156.

Yup. I would save up until around Christmas or whatever other holiday you have around it. You could build a computer for $500 but it wouldn't be worth it.
