A 22 inch from Dell
I'll assume 1680x1050. You don't have to worry about getting the model with extra video RAM then.

Wait, how is this?

Off to school.

You don't need a new monitor.

Yup. You shouldn't need a new monitor. As far as gaming goes there really isn't too much of a difference between the 750 and 950 - maybe a few FPS.

On a side note, if it performs 80fps with an i5 and 100000fps with the 950 you really wouldn't see a difference. Just about every monitor right now has a refresh rate of around 60mhz. Most monitors that refresh faster are very expensive or quite old.

I think you misunderstood. I don't have a monitor :D

I'm on a laptop.

The only other monitor is a 17 inch peice of-

Let's just say CRT.

I just learned that I have to pay for it by myself. Deep breaths... in... out... in...

I might get 500 bucks for my birthday, at least that is what I project.

I asked my grandma, who spends a lot on me, for completely cash this year.

Youch, that sucks. Either save up longer or try and salvage any parts you can from older computers. Is that laptop all you have?

Your motherboard does not have the right socket type for your cpu :(

If you're lazy and don't want to build a CPU, buy the HP Pavilion Elite and HP 2159m monitor. Thats what I have.
The forget?

He's changed his parts list around like fifty times. Probably just forgot to update it.

How would I know the socket types?

I'm not very computer savvy.

. Is that laptop all you have?
Yes, and I am going to work for Winn-Dixie when I turn 14 as a bag boy.

I doubt they will allow me, though.

Edit: Darn, I meant to add this to the post above.

No because that motherboard uses LGA 1156. The i7-950 uses LGA 1366.
For Intel processors the current common socket types are LGA 775, LGA 1156, and LGA 1366. They are incompatible with each other and a motherboard only supports one type. It's clearly listed under the specifications under every motherboard though. The i7-760 is LGA 1156.

Yup. I would save up until around Christmas or whatever other holiday you have around it. You could build a computer for $500 but it wouldn't be worth it.

Oh, I see my problem.

I was looking at my Video Card!

Anyways, I switched back to i7, trying to find a motherboard to support all of that was giving me a headache.

I think I'm all set.
