Author Topic: Which game making engine should I use?  (Read 2395 times)

Hey guys, I am planning on making a small game, or a big game if you're a small person, anyway here is what I am looking for in a game engine:

No extreme amount of coding
Top down capabilities (Pokemon or Alien Swarm top down)
Large multiplayer server hosting capabilities
Easy-ish mapping
Real time combat, Like point-click shoot

I would prefer extremely simple obviously,

I heard Source could do all of this, am I correct?

Anyway, I would prefer sprites and whatnot for ease.
Any suggestions? Is this possible? Am I being an idiot?

Can i beta test? Olol

Well i'd suggest Using Source, and if i am sure CS:S Used Havok. But if you are going to sell the game you gotta sell it for under 10 euros if you use havok.

If you are willing to learn then its BYOND

Isn't source a lot of money?

Large multiplayer server hosting capabilities

Wouldn't that depend on the server...?

I thought you got it when you bought a Source engine game (Source SDK).

Oh, maybe the unreal tounament engines. Unreal engine 3 created Bioshock so why not?

But if you want Not so good graphics you could probably use Goldsource (Half-life 1 engine)

This is pathetic. Learn how to program or bust.

Can't you just make a mod from Source SDK?

Half the stuff you said was mutually exclusive. You aren't going to achieve much if you refuse to write any code.

Learn how to program or bust.

Why do people attempt to make games?

Why do people attempt to make RTB knock-offs?
You set yourself up for that one

BC is unrelated to RTB.
I don't know what you're talking about.
