About legal issues, I really doubt that it is a problem because the buyers already have the game. The only thing I have to worry about is income tax.

No, because it's not a profit. It's all voluntary, just that servers like this cost money.
Plus, we're not paying extra for Blockland content. We're paying for a server, that will happen to run Blockland.

I would pay if I got to use it, but the problem is that I might want to host some private mods and I don't want everyone just distributing them out to their friends after copying them to their own computer. Judging by most of the forums activity (LOL MEMES FUNY U MAD LIEK :3), I wouldn't really want to be sharing a server with the majority of this community, but I would still pay if I had access.

You have the wrong idea. Each person has their own user folder such as E:/users/blockland15/
