I'm not certain, but I believe the key.dat is tied into the hardware you are using somehow. This means you can't simply copy the key.dat file across to different machines.
You're just making that up now.

He's actually correct, and that's why you can't copy a key file to another machine. It keeps people from just stealing your key. You need to physically enter it on every machine you are going to run a copy of Blockland on. However, one key could host an unlimited number of servers, so he could just have one copy of Blockland on the server that only he knew the key to. Managing auto-admin lists, etc, for each server would require some special script I imagine, if it's even possible.

If you're not comfortable entering your own key into a server someone else owns then shared dedicated hosting probably isn't for you though.

Thanks Wedge.
It's most likely a one-way encryption scheme that hashes a string containing hardware, OS, and the key itself.

It looks like a $11 first fee of the first month, then anything less than $11 from then on.

The CPU usage is okay, but what kind of upload speeds and bandwidth do you have? I doubt one connection will be able to run 30 x 15-20 users at any sort of decent playability for those connected.

100 mbps down/up. This is in a datacenter.

I wouldn't pay , but i can see it being usefull for clan servers

well logically, a REAL dedicated hosting, you/your clan will have a clan ID just for the dedi.
one of you wouldn't just use your own lol

Warground just gave me some information about CPU stuff and memory.

Blockland barely uses CPU unless it's doing a lot of stuff. It uses a bit of memory. ATF's empty 215k brick server uses 300 MB, and a server of 10k bricks and 60 players uses 800MB of RAM.

CPU and memory won't be a problem at all.

If everything goes well, I can squeeze a few more servers onto one server.

This makes me want to go get myself a reliable server hosting computer too. :P

It's not really your computer that makes this worth it. My computer matches the specs of the one ATF clan uses, but my internet doesn't compare at all. The 100 mbps is what makes it worth it.

Everyone gets 3.33333333 mbps assuming all servers were using their full bandwidth capacity for some reason.

But servers rarely use their full capacity.

Not even all the blockland players on at top hour would achieve something near there. When you had your dogfight with 60 people, the next server had about 25, then 20, then 15. Lets say those servers were hosted using this, it still wouldn't cause lag.

ATF had 1-3 servers running at the time and a bunch of other game servers.

Then i would love a loving awesome internet speed.

Well, after all, even when i just want to game...
