Basically i can build it, but i won't host it, so no-ones gonna see it. Shame.

Spare us the drama.  No one cares.

multible saves should work....

You've made it clearly obvious that YOU don't care what your customers think. An attitude that a indie game developer should not have in my opinion. I know, i sell games too, and we actually listen to what people want in the games we sell and will often add it. We never wanted a savegame solution (arcade shooters simply don't have them) in Warblade, but in the end we added it. And when we don't agree with what someone wants we explain why it wouldn't work or couldn't be done. More recently we've added things to Deluxe Pocmon that users have requested. What i don't understand is why we can't have saving by id. Or an option to enable or disable client saving on a server.

Multiple saves won't work. You have to load all parts to make the whole, then it can be saved. Making it passworded is no good either. Who do i give the password to ? No-one i personally know plays blockland.

As for no-one caring, have you seen my maze, or been in it ? Have you been in my server when people have said things like "hey this is great, nice job" or more recently "oh cool, the ubermaze is coming back". I've been asked to ressurrect the uberoffice too and i got great feedback in my server for the pixel pic thing. My enjoyment comes from hosting a server that other people enjoy.

I've been a fan of blockland from the start. I've told people about it, got people interested and i know that you will be getting another sale through me showing it to a friend. I've enjoyed the mods (mostly) and watched the progression of the game. I love the retail version but for me the saving method is wrong and is the only thing i am concerned about. Thats my opinion like it or not.

So how many people do you know aren't coming to your server because the reloaded it in their own server? I wasn't even aware that it had become a problem.

It hasn't yet, not for me, but it could. Thats what i want to avoid. Future problems.
Anyway, no matter now, i think i have figured out a way to block client side saving :)
Will let you know shortly.

I stole your save Hitm4n! ITS MINE NOW!!!! JK I only wanted the build me and Pred made but its annoying that I stole some thing with out even meaning too.

Then you'll have to deal with people saving your builds then.  It's a core feature of the game.  This whole topic is as dumb as those javascript crap things that try to stop you from saving images in your browser.  People like to save builds so they can look at them locally and play with them later, or maybe add on to them on their own server.

Just because a few 12 year old dorks like to claim credit for other people's work doesn't mean you should cripple the whole game.  Just ignore those people.

It's way more complicated than that, dude....

No, I haven't seen your maze hitm4n.  You haven't posted any screenshots and you don't seem to be hosting it anywhere (oh, if only it were loaded in some other people's servers!).  You're so paranoid that you're becoming a hermit.

It's not a matter of me not respecting your wishes as a customer, it's a matter of respecting my customer base at large.  Most of them are decent people who just want to go on servers and save builds so they can play with them.  There are a few bad apples who will try to take credit but I'm not going to cripple the game just to slow them down a little.

Build something cool, post screenshots in the gallery, and all of the people who matter will know that you built it.  The idiots won't know, but they're idiots - nothing that you or I can do will change that.  You have to concentrate on making the experience better for the good players, not making it worse for the bad ones.

And on that note!
Put a Sign some where hidden near the build Saying "Built By NAME", that'll stop them but make sure its hidden or build the build on it XD

My older ubermaze was posted here. The new one isn't finished yet and when the entire thing is enclosed in a box, pictures don't really convey it too well. Hopefully tonight it will be done and pictures will be posted but i only post it to advertise its finished, not for ratings.

What i fail to understand about your argument is you seem to focus on the credit thing. I don't care if someone else said it was theirs. I care that it no longer becomes unique on my server. If YOU think "most" people will be share happy, and allow anyone to save, then why not add this in as an option ? Like you say, most will leave it enabled so anyone can save. Then maybe those that do want to protect their builds can do. That surely caters for everyone ?

No-one had a problem about the saving method in older versions, people saved their own work in their own servers. And i fail to see how adding build protection is crippling the game.

Anyway, all moot now, cos i do have a way to disable client saving, so for now i'm no longer concerned.

Here's a solution for you all: Post pictures of your builds in the gallery as soon as you complete it. That way you can say "No, I made it two weeks ago. Check the gallery!".

Basically i can build it, but i won't host it, so no-ones gonna see it. Shame.

Ok Hitman. Lets view the stats:

People who don't want the Client-side saving: 2 (You and Pro)
People who do or don't care: The rest

Why should he remove clientside saving because YOU don't want it, your a small minority of the players, please stop thinking about your self.
