Author Topic: Laptop - HP Envy 14 Beats Edition  (Read 3242 times)

It's not like it's the first laptop to have a subwoofer, (Ex. Dell's Studio line's laptops) and furthermore Dre products have always been overpriced. Beats are overpriced, so then I'd assume that the 'magical Dre soundsystem' installed in that laptop is actually just hyped up cow stuff. I wouldn't buy it.
Cnet reviewed it well, and I got 300 off anyway.

You're paying for the 'b' logo on the keyboard. The laptop itself is a terrible investment in the long ru. For that price you can get a really good gaming laptop from different websites, the only reason Id ever buy this would be for the adobe products it comes with. The switchable graphics drivers never get updated, so, prepare for texturing forget ups and polygons everywhere.

For 1.300$ or 1.000$ you can get a good laptop from

http://Http://www.ibuypower.com

Or

http://Http://www.newegg.com

Just look around at specs, not names.

Also, since when is it rare for a laptop to have a built in sub? Mine has bose audio built in with a 2.5" subwoofer built in. O.o

Well again I'm not going for gaming.  I want it for the large hard drive space, great sound quality, and great audio quality.  If I get into gaming I will save up for a desktop later.

You could get all that in a laptop for way cheaper

All you need is a big hard drive and a good sound card

Are switchable graphics really that bad? :U
I've never had to update drivers before so I'm wondering if this is honest, decent advice or just the biased remarks of a gaming nerd. :3

laptops in general are stuff.
and so are macs.

you should be ashamed.

stuff, in that case you can get a laptop for 700$ and then upgrade the hdd. I just bought a 500gig hdd at the local computer store for my macbook for 45$

Trust me, you'll regret buying that. Plus, in my experience, HP = Ewww

Cnet didn't mention anything about the switchable card being bad.  My friend's father who is a computer technician overlooked the specs and said everything was good for the price, so idk what these guys are saying.  One major problem that all user reviews gave was that there was some faulty hardware originally, and they needed to send it back. :S

If all you want is a large hard drive and awesome audio quality, get the laptop I have. It has harman/kardon HD surround sound speakers and a 500GB HDD @ 7200rpm. It doesn't have the best graphics card in the world but I'm able to play games such as TF2, L4D, etc. on it with little to no lag. The best part is that not only is it made by the leading company in laptops but it's over $300 less than the HP you're looking to buy.

Additionally, as I stated before

HP = Ewww

Then you don't want to get anything having to do with Dre products.

HP's laptops in general are stuff. If you want a good laptop, something that looks lovey, such as that HP, won't be nearly as good performance-wise as, say, a Toshiba.

1. No. 1/4 of the laptops HP makes are love. The others can rot in cyber-hell.

2. ASUS = Best Laptops.

2. ASUS = Best Laptops.

1. That 1/4 you're talking about is their remarkably over priced models.

2. Asus, Toshiba and MSi = Best Laptops IMHO
