Right about what, the paragraph was about how this is not a WoW killer, when no one stated it was, so good job. Even if he was saying it wasn't a WoW killer that is pure opinion and speculation and someone arguing on the other side would be just as likely to be right. The first thing he said was modern MMORPGs are horrible because they have levels and a health bar, which is just idiotic.
That wasn't a paragraph, it was a mere few sentences. Furthermore, it's pure opinion and speculation... just like the statements you made. You yourself stated it was a 'WoW killer'. Therefore, by your logic, you are no one, and so your argument is null because it does not exist because you are no one and no one cannot argue, they're too busy not existing.
However, I will humour the nonexistent. Firstly, your logic hinges on the 'It either is, or it isn't' fallacy which assumes if there are only two possible outcomes, the probability of either is 50%. Frankly, this is a load of stuff. Rift is far more likely to
not be a WoW killer, and your logic is just insulting.
I think TV Tropes offers a good example.
Played for laughs when interviewing the main "The LHC will kill us all!" proponent on The Daily Show, whose logic on giving it a 50/50 chance of destroying the world was "It'll either happen or it won't, thus there are two possibilities, and since it can be either one, it has to be 50/50."
John Oliver: I don't think that's how probability works.
Then beautifully parodied when John Oliver pretends to believe it is a 50/50 chance and offers that when the world ends he and the (male) proponent of the LHC-myth should try and repopulate the earth. After all, even if they're both males, there's still a 50/50 chance of them being able to successfully reproduce (it either will happen it or won't).
Furthermore, modern MMORPGs
are horrible because of the concept that they
have to have the standard issue quests, inventories, health bars, spells, mana, levels, etc. It's all more of the same and there is very little innovation. A company can turn a profit with the simplest copy of the standard issue model, so why bother?
MMORPGs are tricky business. Mostly they work by getting your mind into that state of excitement and then focus on getting your money before you come down from the high. Mainly they plan to drag this out as long as possible; its an endless series of buildups and letdowns as far as innovation goes, and the model ensures that everything takes as long as humanly possible.
Sure, people do try to make MMORPGs better, but its also important to remember:
it's hard! MMORPGs are difficult tasks to begin with, much less making a good one. People won't put in the time because it's not expected of them.
But I digress, I'm straying too far from my point; Rift is no WoW killer. I don't even like WoW, either. I'm just stating the truth as I see it.
This entire topic is speculation. I just consider my speculation to be much more realistic in comparison.
You are clearly forgetting that Wizard is a child.
Wizard is nearly incomprehensibly more intelligent than you two. I speak from experience with all three of you.
