Author Topic: GM_Vardet (FINALLY UPDATES- PAGE 11)  (Read 10059 times)

This be a new map that I started today and plan to work on over the break. It's final form is likely to be floating buildings connected with walkways. If anyone can guess as to the architectural inspiration and the origin of the name, you win serious epeen AND bro points.

Following the effect I'm trying to accomplish, large parts of the map are going to be concrete textures so don't bitch at me about little texture variation. Also, I'm trying to naturally light the entire map, again, part of the effect. The lighting that I do end up using will probably be something indirect and not conventional as far as hammer mapping goes. Pictures of that will come later.

If you want all the criticism you can get, go post it on Facepunch.

But anyways, that looks pretty good.

Structure looks way too random and not symmetrical, if that's the effect you were going for good I guess but im my opinion it looks strange.

While it does look dysfunctional and weird, I like it

Vardet = Value?
I know it's some foreign language, and translates to "Value."
Not sure if that's where you got it though.

Nope. It's obscure as forget.

Wow, looks amazing, great architecture, can't wait for the whole map. Great Job! Here's some cookies to help you work!  :cookie: :cookie:

That factory/warehouse down your street.

INCORRECT. Hint: It's from a video game.

Portal. TF2. Half Life. Fallout (3).

The architectural inspiration comes from a main setting of the game, and the name comes from an obscure thing mentioned in relation to the aforementioned setting.

That's it, I'm done with hints.

Isn't Vardet one of Feros' moons in Mass Effect?

Quickedit: Yeah it is. Looks nice too
