Author Topic: The idea of Heaven: is it really that great?  (Read 5663 times)

If there were heaven, I'd rather go to hell or somewhere.
Why would you? You get eternal peace and love in the Heaven. You must be crazy or something to want to go to hell. In the hell, you'll burst in the flames for the rest of your "life".

At least the pain of fire gives you something to talk about.
What are you going to talk about in heaven? About how lovely and perfect everything is?
All I'm saying is, a day in heaven would be ok, but eternity? No. Love, like all other emotions, can tire. Some people don't hate anymore, some don't feel sad, others don't feel happy. Basically a tired emotion. Love just seems to last longer then others, but that's because it's an emotion you only truly feel for a shortish-medium period of your life.

DARKNESS, PAIN AND BAD THINGS > GOOD THINGS

See, the only problem with being reincarnated as an animal:

how would you KNOW? How would you even think about yourself, let alone think about being reincarnated? Most animals don't have that ability. You'd just be a completely mindless creature, with no ability to tell if you even exist...

-head explodes-

DARKNESS, PAIN AND BAD THINGS > GOOD THINGS
Durrhurr, I don't beleive in heaven or hell.

Life > Nothingness > heaven >= hell

I think of heaven like a wonderful place where you can do what you want and no work you need to work on, and just very enjoyable. Seriously, I do.

I think after you die you're dead, you don't have any problems or worries because you're dead

Durrhurr, I don't beleive in heaven or hell.

Life > Nothingness > heaven >= hell
forget you.

You think life is good? It's nothing but a pain in the ass.
And if you don't know anything about it maybe you should go research it before you go attacking it with your stuffty opinions.

Atleast in life we have a choice in what we believe.

Hey forget you. Being a rock would be badass.
But no vidya gaems if you are a rock.Or anything else fun for that matter.

It would be badass. End of story >:(

Yes. Life is brilliant. You are a fool if you think otherwise.
If lifes bad for you, heaven wont be any better.

And just to let you know, saying I have stuffty opinions is quite ironic. Seeing as your opinion that my opinions are stuffty, I think are stuffty. Try work that one out.

Seriously, eternity is a scary thing. You wouldn't want anything forever. A basic human mind cannot contemplate nothingness. There is no way to explain it, you're just going to have to think about it.

1. Hell isn't actually "described" in the bible, your vision of Hell stems from Dante Alighieri's Divine Comedy.
2. Hell is a physical impossibility, and logically flawed. It simply cannot exist.

I'd like to compare that to the idea of "Rampancy" in computer AI.

I hate the idea of an afterlife. How worthless is your life right now in comparison? Even worse is living for an eternity. Suddenly "life" becomes a prison. As Freddie said, "Who wants to live forever?"
