So the move is gonna start in ten days and last ten days?
Correct. There's a 10-day period overlap, may be slightly more but I have 24h guaranteed delivery. It should be here between April 30th and May 1st. My host does not offer upgrades which is why I have to buy 2. It's meant to align with the end of my server's term.

Transfer will be ridiculously fast, too.

What kind of downtime should servers expect? All ten days, or one at a time for short periods? Pecon was discussing plans for what to do during the move.

Who said anything about downtime?

You can pick any time to move, preferably as soon as possible.

You can move mine as soon as you want. Feel free to use it to test your moving process. I won't be hosting anything important on it for at least another two and a half weeks.

Oh, well that makes things easier.

So I'm thinking of getting this because of the CCC, but I would like to know the benefits of this beyond having a 99 person capacity.

It's a lot of trouble to run your own server 24/7. Besides that, in a lot of places, it is actually cheaper to use Kalphiter's service than it is to pay for that much electricity.

And as for lag?  Is the lag as bad as it is in usual dedicated servers?

And when I load a build, does it take forever to load the build?

The speed of the load mainly depends on your own Internet speed as kalphs is quite good.

Blockland has a hard limit on the leading speed.

Which I have a hard time understanding why.

are we talking save file upload speed, or save load speed?

I'm not sure if that's true, electricity is pretty cheap in 1st world countries. I'll check my house's meter and estimate how much the usage costs.  My laptop can measure wattage from the battery, the screen is most of the electric usage. Consider powerful yet electrically-cheap computers such as e-readers.

It's possible to bypass, but that breaks chat, etc (while leading).

Both have one, but we're talking about uploading.
