Ephialtes, I'm pretty sure it's impossible to convince someone that they spend their money on the wrong things. It's their money, they'll eventually learn.
Or not.

Everything has been fixed, I'll spend some time figuring out the problem.

Cool thanks.

someone who doesn't know how to run a dedicated hosting service
Surely RTB's outages must mean that the creator doesn't know what he's doing!

Touche! ;)

And if Ephialtes is to say that it doesn't happen as often, neither has this service hit problems often. We got up on the wrong foot yet after that I think this ran well. Only a few Hiccups along the way!

Or I could be wrong and the service was falling out of it's self at the seams...

Edit: What about this?

(Specificly Kalphiter's New Years' sdfs)

It's difficult to decipher what you're trying to say, but I assume you mean that Kalphiter's dedicated servers are as reliable as the services Ephialtes has offered over the past few years. That's a laughable claim.

This dedicated hosting service has been a disappointment thus far; the service is not as easy to setup as it could be and has been inconsistent over all. Servers have been randomly stopping and starting and often they fail to appear on the server list.

I don't regret paying for the first month. My interest was more in proving that people are willing to pay for a service than it was in having the server run by Kalphiter. I hope the participation of this many people is enough to convince Ephialtes that it's an idea worth pursuing.

1. It's only really been down maybe two or three days since he started accepting payment.
2. Often servers can be made to post to the list with "webcom_postserver();", this has always worked for me.
3. So you're saying you only bought Kalphiter's service to convice Ephailtes to create a simular service for you to buy into?

where Kalphiter is ? He has not fix it all day. Our server all down!
He has not info to us about issue problem server. or he hiding? I wonder...
he should let server stay run on, not shut down. most company alway run thier server on, break down or crash, shutdown  rarely. most time stay up all time, while he can work on it without server down. He need hire someone help him around like maintenance server.
Being "deaf" does not cause such horrible grammar.
That is seriously annoying.

Seems like you're blaming the game's problems on me...

Yes it does. He uses sign language in everyday life and it has a different wording than spoken English. Here he writes sign language because it is probably the only language he knows if he was born deaf. It's not that hard to understand. Some of the words are just in different order.

Problem = Kalphiter doesn't know how to secure a simple php login form :cookieMonster:

Ephi, I haven't been following this so excuse me if you already answered, but are we ever going to see an RTB dedicated service in the not so distant future? I know you discussed the difficulties before, and its all very well having Kalphiter do it on a small small scale, but is it even possible to do it on a large scale profitably?

He can read text.
He could learn over time how words I supposed to go together, and do it.

I've thought about it and done a few experiments on some scalable hosting solutions but I haven't been able to figure out anything which would work reliably and cheaply enough while also guaranteeing a break-even for me in terms of costs - so I won't be pursuing it any time soon. I might re-evaluate next year if prices come down at all.

The only workable solution I came up with would cost users $20 per month and I don't really see that as being acceptable. I'd aim to have a service providing hosting at $10 or less per month. It's also worth noting that I don't intend to profit from any of the services RTB provides, it's a free community service - not a business.
