Author Topic: Boner over RIFT  (Read 3165 times)

We get it you like World of Warcraft, run along and play now.
You've proven that some people (somehow) like grinding in WoW. What else are you trying to prove here?

I like MMORPGs and am in an MMORPG topic. You are in an MMORPG topic saying how you hate MMORPGs and are expecting me to persuade you to like them or what? And now you ask what I am trying to prove? The question is what are you trying to prove? You don't realize the problem here is you are whining about MMORPGs in a topic about an MMORPG. You could make a topic about how much you hate MMORPGs if you'd like.

So I played RIFT, so loving fun. Letting Ziyek play o my account for a while.

Played it, realized it was a slightly but overall insignificantly better version of WoW, stopped playing it.
And their advertising pisses me off.

And their advertising pisses me off. How?

Again, the only way it's better is that it's not named WoW.
Literally everything else is basically exactly like WoW.

Their advertising schema is basically to brag about how revolutionary and rule-breaking they are when in fact they are the opposite of revolutionary and rule-breaking, that is to say that they are CONFORMISTS and RULE ABIDERS which, according to the Webster's New World Dictionary means "the opposite of revolutionary and rule-breaking" (p1025)

And they like to talk about how they're better than WoW which is a fallacy because they are, in fact (I looked it up and everything) WoW.

This may come off as a silly post but the point is serious, its just the same MMORPG bundle in a different wrapping paper like they've done over and over again

Dynamic events though?

Doesn't look very fun.
Looks like a WoW clone.

why does visage always stuff his pants and starts to argue with anyone who thinks bad of an MMORPG he likes?

It is fun, yes it has similarities to World of Warcraft, but it has dynamic quests and events, better animations and interactions. It's nice, sign up for beta.

Dunno, when I decide I don't like a game he gets pissy too, we have played 3 games together and none keep my interest (DAoC, WoW and Darkfall) and he gets all pissed off and deleted me off of steam :l

Until there is a game without a type of Generic Races that are called different names to sound different(ex: High Elves, Dark Elves)with a generic Hunter Healer Warlock etc. class system with some talent tree that almost renames the skills, and equipment that has different classifications (ex:epic, legendary, common etc.), with a small storyline maybe through the first 5-10 levels of the game, then almost every game with labeled as a "WoW copy.

Honestly, most MMORPG's bring something new to the table but the rest is quite similar, leaving with practically the same generic system. I think having a story from the beginning levels to the end would be really helpful. The game Maplestory (although 2D and not amazing) incorporates a story from levels 1-50, which leaves another 150 levels of grinding but it is slowly getting there.

Another interesting feature from Fallout Online, which is kind of a current work in progress, is that is doesn't have classes. Personally I think this is a neat feature since you will probably be able to build your character the way you want. For example, a little bit of Gun Skill but also First Aid Skill.

Although I am not sure if FO will ever become made, I think if it does, it will become a great success because of how it is so set apart from the other games.
