A very good understanding of lighting and composition. The simplicity of the rendering masks a lot of practice and skill.

GRAPHITE. not granite. granite is what you make tiles out of.
i drew with granite once
i'm still paying off a debt

You don't seem to understand how quickly soft graphite can smear and completely forget up the shading up a drawing irreparably.

Yeah, especially unintentionally

>minding own business drawing
>hand holding paper suddenly smearing everything drawn on the opposite side.

Yeah, graphite is a horrible medium. It's extremely easy to work with but with that comes the side effect of it smearing all over the loving place. I prefer ink techniques.

I remember seeing some weird gloves that stop that from happening

Yeah I think you showed me it too.

I've learned to manage my hand movements and keep a piece of paper beneath my hand at all times in order to stop that but it still gets everywhere regardless of what I do because generally my draws are sandwiched between pages. It's simply unavoidable and I'd use pen instead of pencil for shading but I'm lazy and just stick to pencil shading because I cannot be assed to reach into my pocket and pull out a pen.

I just fold up a sheet of A4 paper to 1/4th of its size and keep my hand on that and just don't apply a lot of pressure to the paper.

I use ink because of the long-term survivability of the drawing; almost all of my pencil shadings I put up on DA some of 3+ years ago are all basically destroyed, just from simply being stored away for a while.

Also new avatar revision, fixed some stuff

I don't have any good colored ones besides the ones I posted a long time ago :c

by the way for those who want to get better at painting don't jump into color just do black and white and try to copy a digital painting exactly if you can IT HELPS A LOT or just use pencil

mods are asleep post hot girls

typical slang for an elf girl is 'ewe', comparable to the human 'chick'. male elves are not called rams, but are instead called sheepdogs

elf hair is, in some savage cultures, actually used as a stand-in for wool. this tradition, while actually very practical and mechanically effective due to the the resulting clothes keeping the wearer comfortable, magic-resistant and resilient to physical attacks, is not practiced in more civilized nations because there are usually elves living nearby and the elves would sneak into your house at night and murder you.
