if you "just loving suck"

Huh? He was saying that he didn't draw as much as he wanted because of real life stuff, which was pretty much your basis for saying why you didn't care if he was right or not.

Also I don't really know what's the difference between the two sketches?

he doesn't draw as much as he wants to

seems to support my point

I--

huh?

if you "just loving suck", maybe you ought to be honing your skill instead of dishing out advice. your activity is the same as a grammar national socialist at this point. you're asserting yourself based on knowledge that is arguably true, but you're doing it too frequently and applying it to minor things, like sketches. instead of imparting helpful advice, you're nitpicking, and that really doesn't help in the long run
Uh, I wasn't saying I suck, I was saying you were implying I suck because I don't post art very often

"Doing it too frequently" so there are suddenly guidelines as to how often I'm allowed to give advice and provide critique?

"Applying it to minor things, like sketches" so suddenly the fact that something is a sketch means it shouldn't be held up to the same standards of quality as other works?

Also I don't really know what's the difference between the two sketches?
The second one is a lot worse, the proportions on the human are entirely wrong and it actually kind of looks creepy, which is the exact opposite of what I was going for

not only that but I also ran into a problem with the dragon, nothing I did could make him not look ridiculously disproportionate and stupid

he doesn't draw as much as he wants to

seems to support my point
oh my god

I can't just sit around and doodle all day anymore, I have daily obligations that keep me from doing the things I enjoy, it's called growing up

why is that concept so hard to grasp

ooooh he was being sarcastic

okay forget it i'm gonna say what i've been wanting to say for weeks

tak, you're a pretty good artist. i think you've got a lot of skills. hey, i'm not good at computer art, so you've got that on me for sure. i don't think you're bad.

but you need to realise that you're not right. no one is right in art. there are good concepts and guidelines, but there is nothing definitive. many artists would say that careful planning and getting everything perfect creates formulaic art and really doesn't grasp the pure, chaotic nature of art. are they right? no. are they wrong? no.

but off of just the philosophical meaning of art, you're butting your loving head in and giving a piece of your mind all the time. it's annoying. constructive criticism is only garnered when the artist WANTS CRITICISM. you constantly come in and spout your arrogance and then get mad when i retaliate. it doesn't matter how good your advice is, you're acting like it's loving gospel and it's annoying. you're a god damn grammar national socialist. you want to know why i rarely give criticism anymore? because no one is loving asking for it. same goes with everyone else here.

just, settle the forget down and put the train back on it's track instead of derailing it.

i tried to draw something but i made him so skinny he looks like a holocaust victim

ok this is not a debate about what art is good and what art is bad, or who is right and who is wrong

I'm saying that you need to plan everything out FIRST so you don't end up making critical mistakes in the long run which lead to an ugly or incomplete product

regardless of what medium or rules you follow it's always better to have idea of what the forget you're doing before you actually start doing it

okay, let's move on from that

No arguments there. I know I'm an arrogant stuffhead.

Yeah.. no. This is the internet. Freedom of expression applies here. I am allowed to give critique whenever I please. In return, the artists are allowed to ignore my critique, and they're also allowed to argue against it. You're allowed to think my critique is annoying, and I'm allowed to ignore that sentiment and keep critiquing whether it's explicitly asked for or not.

Which is exactly what I'm going to do. If you wanna call me an starfish for doing this, go right ahead.

you don't have to be one! you don't have to stoop down to that level just to keep on giving tips!

what do you see to gain from it, then? what kind of person gives criticism, expecting it to be ignored?
