I think practicing perspective and doing basic anatomy studies (or atleast understanding form) would be the best way to do that.

Illustration for drawing class. 24+ grueling hours with pencils and dried-out markers that weren't the right color.

what is the water reflecting?
Not much of anything tbh. The "reflections" in the ref image were very vague. To be fair, these reflections have far more contrast, but that was due to my very limited marker selection, unfortunately. :/

So yeah, they ain't great lol.
