Author Topic: Garry's Mod Ragdolls  (Read 4286 times)

Gah. Ive been looking everywhere for a tutorial/example/helpofanykind for rigging a ragdoll. All of them are either for 3DSMax, or are bad tutorials in general. Really all that I need is an example rig to look at; I can figure out the rest myself. Does anyone have a .blend model or even a simple picture of what a ragdoll rig for Garry's Mod/Source Engine is supposed to look like? Or a tutorial that is actually not stuff? Ive given up on searching and would really appreciate some help.

Well, there's obviously a reason you can't find any non-3DSMax tutorials.

Which would be?

Dont tell me you cant do it with any other program, because I saw a MILKSHAPE tutorial. -.-

Edit: stuff this board moves fast. x_x

Milkshape was not designed to work with HL2 SMD's, only HL1.

I don't know about ragdolls, but i can make props just fine

I found multiple prop-making tutorials. I cannot find a tutorial for rigging a ragdoll, which is what I want to do. Obviously.

I need to know what all I need to do for it to work correctly; how many objects it needs to be, the heirarchy, Rigging the face, armature names, texturing, collision...

There's just a huge number of things that I could very easily do incorrectly and have to completely start over. :/

Huge bump because I completely forgot about this topic until I started looking for tutorials again

get a .SMD file of one of the characters and look at the skeletal rig to get an idea of how that works then  try following other tuts from where they export to where they get it in game

How can I look at the model's rig without an importer x_x

what exactly do you mean by "rigging a ragdoll"

adding bones so it's similar to that of a human body.

Or a decompiler for the .MDL format that actually works? :/
