Blaghararp.

I want Ubuntu, but don't have any CD's currently.  :/
Me neither. I use it off of a USB drive.

I want Ubuntu SO BAD. But im gonna be chewed out by my mom/dad if I change the OS on this computer to something besides Windows 7.
Simply don't change it. Follow these instructions, and you should be able to use it easily.
Go to Ubuntu Website

Download ISO for CD Installation

Wait 3 hours

Go to computer with a CD ready in hand.

Put it on CD.

Insert CD, restart computer.

Choose to run Ubuntu from CD.

This is a method to trial the OS without loss of any files.

Can you play any games on it? other than stuffty ones, I mean like Steam or anything? If not then I'm going to have to say no, sadly. But if you can, I am so getting this. it looks lovey.
Steam isn't a game.

Can you play blockland on it?

so can it play all Windows games?
because I doubt it
No. No operating system except for Windows itself can run all Windows games.

But a decent amount of Windows games run in Wine. You can see how well various games run at appdb.winehq.org. Here's Blockland, for example.

I've found that (GENERALLY) the older a Windows program is, the better it will run in Wine. This is not always true, but I've found it to be accurate in most cases.

Xubuntu
No offense, but why would a server run X? Everything you need to do on a server can be accomplished through a terminal, which requires much less overhead.

If you're looking for an extremely lightweight version of Ubuntu, I would recommend Lubuntu or Mint LXDE (new version isn't out yet :(). XFCE has been becoming more and more of a heavyweight lately. LXDE is a relatively new project that tries to stay as lightweight as possible.

XFCE is still much faster than KDE though (and GNOME for that matter).

Can you play blockland on it?
It's kind of glitchy for some people (cough) but it does run pretty well.

So would I have to back up my entire system on my 2TB external hard drive to install this, or no?  :cookieMonster:

"And im a pc"

You have to backup, or dual boot and delete Windows manually, but then you end up with two partitions.

Installing alongside Windows, no.
Installing in place of Windows, probably.
Just testing, definitely not.

Hm

I would like to test it before I make any decisions..

First try 64 bit, if that doesn't work (or go smoothly) try the 32 bit.
