Some source games not working

TF2 and a few others start, play the image of the black guy with the valve in his head, play the sound that goes with the image, and then exit. I've reinstalled several times already with no change. Help?

This happened to me when i had to ctrl+alt+delete and end hl2.exe to get out of a laggy game, then i had to restart the computer and it was working again.
