Author Topic: Entertainment doesn't mean having fun anymore?  (Read 1038 times)

I've played dozens of online game, and so far most of them aren't fun. It's just repetitively tapping the same key over and over to get money and levels to tap the same key again.

It's not entertainment, it's mindless and useless work. Blockland is fun because it's not just the same thing over and over again. When I play a game I want to play the game instead of repeated gameplay. Real games aren't boring. Real games aren't repetitive.

And first-person shooters, they're still the same. All of them are "Shoot the enemy until you win". That was fun in 2003. That's it.

The real games are what keeps the gaming industry fun. Games such as Super mario galaxy, little big planet and dozens of other games that don't keep the same constant gameplay.

My brother is a pure example of one of the people who don't play games to have fun. He is always yelling and screaming at his game because he lost a level, didn't get online currency or was killed ingame. Why would you play a game just to be frustrated and stressed?

How would that be considered fun?

minecraft isn't too repetative :D

Because you can build AND survive.

And besides, do you scream at your game if you fall into lava? I just laugh hysterically.

And first-person shooters, they're still the same.
Call of Duty isn't every FPS ever.

I've never played Call of Duty. Although I've played Unreal Tournament, Quake III team arena and tons of other classic shooters.

And first-person shooters, they're still the same. All of them are "Shoot the enemy until you win". That was fun in 2003. That's it.
Way to oversimplify things to the point of just being ridiculous. I might as well say "Reading books is just staring at paper."

If you put a bit of thought into it, this thread is redundant
Simple answer; Ideas don't last forever, they get old and repetitive as the technology does.

Basically, until we get a full vitrual reality enviroment capable of simulating vast worlds with gaming elements all games will be the same, so get used to it.
Personally, I have fun when I'm pressing keys to get money and levels in an MMO or when I'm shooting people to win in an FPS, just because you don't doesn't mean that gaming as a whole isn't fun any more.

well even though the cod games and battlefield and rpgs and all of that stuff is repetitive, i keep having fun

i have enough games to get bored of one and go play the other, then vice versa

Pretty much that.
The fun is the situation, Not how you control it.

i will have to agree, most fps games just feel the same and it ain't fun

because you only play free fps

I found someone who has similar taste in games as I do  :cookieMonster:

*Praise*

I'm still waiting for my Ati Radeon to show up at my doorstep so I can enjoy GTAIV at a decent FPS.

Well click-click-click games are the easiest to do and easily picked up by anyone, while more varied games require some learning, which many people are incapable of apparently.

I love how you say that the mario series is one of the last that's still original despite the fact that characters like mario and sonic have been milked dry even more than the call of duty series.

Also, I hate games who's sole purpose is to be hard and frustrating. If games are meant to be fun, the why the hell are you making them frustrating?
