Minecraft - Help installing mods

So, I'm trying to install two mods.

So, what I did is I opened minecraft.jar, deleted META-INF and I extracted the 2 zip files, put the files in the .jar and loaded MC. After the Mojang screen, I get a black screen.

Looks loving amazing though.

After a bit of testing, I have noticed that having optimine causes lock ups. Having both that and this significantly decreases the amount of time i can play before it locks up. I will try the standalone and see if it is better at reducing the lag than optimine.

This person had issues with optimine.
There is also apparently a version INCLUDING optimine, whereas you are trying to install them seperately, which may not work.

I hope you backed up your .jar before you added those mods, cause you're gonna need a fresh/withoutCAF one.
