Author Topic: Graphics or Gameplay?  (Read 2254 times)

So many people think a game is good by the graphics, which I think is wrong. But saying so will lead to an argument.

So which do you think makes a video game good? Graphics or gameplay?

What is graphics? The resolution and shininess? Or the art of creating a visual environment to fit the gameplay?

Aye.
but for me, the gameplay is more important.

graphics doesn't matter.
it pisses me off when people rate games by that.
"Oh, ps3 is better because it has better graphics!!"

It's rare that graphics are the deciding factor.
If the gameplay is awful, what would be the point in walking around to look at the trees that looks incredibly-realistic? You could just render that in Blender and save the money.

Today's more realistic graphics may add a slight bit to the game, but without decent gameplay it's not worth the investment.

actually I think ps3 has more unique games and don't try to go for the big time top hardcore shooters like call of duty and halo they are more indie oriented so in a way ps3 is better then xbox360

though I own neither cause pc beats all lol

WHO THE HELL VOTED FOR GRAPHICS

I really can't decide. Each game needs its own unique details.

Minecraft would be horrible with good graphics.

Black Ops would be horrid with bad graphics.

Exactly.

Black Ops is stuff, and would be more with bad graphics.

And Minecraft won't be the same.
For example, FortressCraft is stuff.

gameplay is more important. but that does not mean a game cant have equal quality of both. graphics is still important.

also, game graphics does not have to = realistic to be considered good. there is way more to it then that.

I don't think anyone prefers graphics over gameplay. Some people only play games with great graphics, but it's not like they are going to sit there and play the next Superman 64 just because it has realistic graphics. Some people like me actually prefer 2d games to 3d games, because I grew up playing them.

The graphics count but no where near as much as the gameplay.

I would rather play a fun side scrolling game with pixel graphics (e.g Super Mario, Super Meat Boy (well yeah smb don't have pixel graphics but still), than a game where you stand there in a beautiful landscape that looks amazing but can't do anything but stay still.
