Author Topic: Intel Duel Core vs Intel i7 Core?  (Read 1505 times)

Me and my friend were having an argument over this. Which one is better for gaming?

If a Duel Core has 2 cores, than what does an i7 have?

i7 eats Dual Core alive. i7 Has 4 Cores and it registers as 8 virtual cores I believe.

Also with that said i7, I have one and coming form a dual core to quad core Supreme Commander 2 doesn't actually lag any more, any and all lag is the game not optimised enough which is pretty insane coming from a game that runs at minus x10 speed.

What kind of Intel Dual-Core processor?
Pentium Dual-Core or Core 2 Duo?

...either way, the i7 still wins.

i7 dominates any series of dual core.

i7 = 4 cores

dual core = well... 2 cores

I have  2 i7 quad cores
8 real cores( not 8 virtual cores)
plus that 6 gigs of ram is pretty hawt haha I only ever have my ram usage at like 1 or 2%

Yes, if your CPU can't keep up RAM usually takes over, same goes for if you don't have enough RAM your CPU will do most of the work. Having 6GB's of RAM is good for the CPU. Though when and if possible I recommend upgrading your CPU to something Quad, you'll love how much the computer will improve if you do.

Tom

The intel dual core processors are becoming obsolete now, and probably have a slower clock speed too. It's still working fine for my gaming though.

You have no idea how computers work. RAM and Processor do completely different job's they don't "do each others work". Yes, you will be better off with more RAM if you have a worse processor, but more RAM won't make up for the slowness of you CPU.

Wait.

how the forget did you pack two CPUs into a motherboard?

Apple has been making 2 processor computers for a while now, and I'm sure many other companies have. There are probably motherboards with 2 processor slots.

I read that as "There are probably 2 motherboards" and was like "wat"

I would assume that a quad core is better than a dual core...?

What dual core and what i7?

Well, I just checked the best and worst for each one, the i7 was always better.

not if it's a dual quad  :cookieMonster:

I costume build my computers, also 'Apple' and 'computers' should not be said in the same sentence it's blasphemy
