No, installing DirectX doesn't fix it. The OP posted the link to Madmittens thread on purpose. I take it none of you even bothered to click it because it has the full fix in it.

So for one last time,

I already did it as i said. You don't have to generalize everyone because of a few people.

Quote
It won't work for me, I'm using win7.

Quote from: from: Error
Run-time error '429':

ActiveX component can't create object

Because I have the time to read through a 12 page thread made two years ago.

I assume none of you did what I said, or else it would have worked. I have windows 7 as well, but the vista fix WORKS for it too.

So until you guys actually follow the directions, I can't help you anymore.

You'll understand when you find out what you're doing wrong.
========================================================

Download the .dll's

Place them in your syswow32/64 depending on your operating system.

That can be located in C:\Windows\syswow##

Once you placed them there, open command prompt as admin.

Type in this for 32 bit operating systems

Quote
cd c:\windows\system32 <enter> (assuming windows is on your C: drive, if not put the correct letter in.)

regsvr32 dx7vb.dll <enter> Click OK on the window that comes up saying dllregserver succeeded

regsvr32 dx8vb.dll <enter> Click OK on the window that comes up saying dllregserver succeeded

type this in for 64 bit operating systems

Quote
cd c:\windows\syswow64 <enter> (assuming windows is on your C: drive, if not put the correct letter in.)

regsvr32 dx7vb.dll <enter> Click OK on the window that comes up saying dllregserver succeeded

regsvr32 dx8vb.dll <enter> Click OK on the window that comes up saying dllregserver succeeded

Obviously press enter, don't type it in.

That's how it works. If it doesn't, you're doing something wrong as this is how I have done it on five computers.

You don't have to keep repeating that you think we didn't do as it said.

I did so, messes, but I keep getting this error.

Fixed it was telling me to be the files into the wrong directory.

I thought this game wasn't going to be worth the effort to fix the error, I am happily wrong.

This game is awesome.

But I can't keep a friendly NPC alive for more then two minutes, I bought a chainsaw thinking I could give it to them but they're stuck with a knife, what do.

Apparently I do, considering I just helped Joekirk fix the problem. Now it's your turn.

when you talk to a person who owns a building you have the option to "Take Leadership" when you do that it tells you the difficulty the higher the difficulty the better the weapons your guys get...

so ya when you catch a place your guys get better guns

take a look at the readme it'll help you a lot

The problem is that it isn't a error. It just gets stuck on the intro when it shows a face on the screen.

Which intro, the one when you first start the game up or when you create a new account?

Try skipping them by clicking, see if that helps.

The one where you start the game. The game freezes up when i do that so i either have to Alt F4 or use task manager to get out of it.
