Author Topic: Protagonist gamemode  (Read 922 times)

An idea came to me: You know all those first person shooter games where the hero has bucketloads of health and he just runs through levels gunning down inferior enemies who pose little threat?

Course you do.

Now if we translated into Blockland, epic funs could be had.

Here's how it'd work:

Generic Protagonist game mode
The protagonist would have to fight through goons (other players) to get to checkpoints (represented by 6x16F or 16x16F). depending on how many goons are present in the minigame their amount of lives is changed. Certain power-ups would spawn on power up bricks that assist (or slow) the hero with his progression to the next checkpoint.

Preferences/variables:
Protag. HP: 1000
Protag. weapon damage percentage: 100%
Protag. lives: 1
Time to reach next checkpoint: ∞ (default)

Goon HP: 50
Goon weapon damage percentage 50%
Goon lives: 10 (default)

Powerups (Tick to enable):
Super-speed - x
Invulnerability - √
Instagib - √
Instant checkpoint teleport - √
Set health to 50 - √
Increase goon health to 150 - √
Give goons one extra life - √
Remove weapons - x
Reset checkpoints activations - x
Bleed 10 health every 5 seconds - √

If you have any ideas or changes for gamemodes, powerups or any thing else, feel free to share your ideas.

It's a good concept, but it can all be done with events.

Change protag lives to infinite

/support

also Just Cause 2

i thought you couldn't raise health past 100 with events

You can still technically make a playertype for it, and it is extremely easy.

Yeah, i was talking to Swat One, who made a remark about this entire suggestion could be made with events.

I'm going to work on this seriously as a project.
But uh, I don't understand the powerups.
What's the check (enabled) for if it's going to be decided by the user..?
And why is "Bleed 10 health every 5 second" a good powerup? Why is "Set health to 50" a good powerup?

Reminds me of Man Vs Tank from ZAPT.
The inferior enemy could be switchable from AI's to players.

Woops, I did leave out the playertypes.  Hm, well there's annother thing:  Set Health proportional to that of these increases so 200=100 and 50=25 etc.

1. Decided by admins, they're server prefs.

2. Those AREN'T good powerups. If a powerup spawns only the Protagonist can collect it and It's unknown until he gets it. That and they're to benefit the Goons. Admins will be able to turn the spawning of these on and off depending on how brutal they want the game to be.
