and belief of afterlife is rational, as proven by thomas aquinas's 5 proofs of god

oh, and in case you were wondering, the 5 proofs were

Quote
1 - FIRST MOVER: Some things are in motion, anything moved is moved by another, and there can't be an infinite series of movers. So there must be a first mover (a mover that isn't itself moved by another). This is God.

2 - FIRST CAUSE: Some things are caused, anything caused is caused by another, and there can't be an infinite series of causes. So there must be a first cause (a cause that isn't itself caused by another). This is God.

3 - NECESSARY BEING: Every contingent being at some time fails to exist. So if everything were contingent, then at some time there would have been nothing -- and so there would be nothing now -- which is clearly false. So not everything is contingent. So there is a necessary being. This is God.

4 - GREATEST BEING: Some things are greater than others. Whatever is great to any degree gets its greatness from that which is the greatest. So there is a greatest being, which is the source of all greatness. This is God.

5 - INTELLIGENT DESIGNER: Many things in the world that lack intelligence act for an end. Whatever acts for an end must be directed by an intelligent being. So the world must have an intelligent designer. This is God.

edit: if there's a god, there must be an afterlife

Now why do we have to discuss religion now?

@Riot, when you mean the afterlife does not apply, that includes reincarnation, yes?

Aquinas' arguments are terrible and an 11 year old could refute them.

Nice post, like I said we aren't talking about religion on thir turn of a topic.

philosophy and religion are closely related.

This isn't philosophy lol, this isn't higher thinking in any way. This is just a stupid question.

uh no

Making fun of an individual's beliefs without any strong or tactical arguments when the topic isn't even focused directly on them.

You are so cool.

One second I'm in a dungeon.

What part of my post was making fun of you?

I don't know where you learned English, but the word "no" can be used to express disagreement, as is the case here.

disagreeing with != making fun of

I got ninja'd.

Anyways, more than half of what you said contradicted itself. When you weren't doing that, you were making up ridiculous "rules".

The fact is, afterlife is not being taken into account in this question. Revise and use that argument when it is more relevant.

Not really...
Philosophy = literally meaning love of knowledge
