Is a circle a polygon? WHILE CIRCLE HAS INFINITE SIDES.

Yes. Because I can see that your mathematical evidence, and the evidence provided by other people, proves it.
No. Because I looked at all the mathematical proof and have determined that in no plausible way is a circle a polygon.

This is not 'traditional' mathematics, now is it?

Logic sir. forget math.

who gives a stuff about circles anyways?
entire topic is headache

But 8.999... = 9 silly. ムホ~

nope

9 = 9
8.999... will never be 9. very very close to 9, but it will never be 9.

I skipped most of the topic so forgive me if this has been said:

In geometry the definition of a "side" requires that it be a line segment with a non-zero length. An infinite number of sides would each have a length of zero which would disqualify them from being termed the "sides" of a circle.

You find the area of a shape in about the same way, but by definition, a circle is not a polygon. The equation is similar to how the area is found, but that does not classify it as being a polygon. You can't count the number of sides a perfect circle has.

but if a circle had infinite sides, what would the measurements of one of the angles be?

I like how rather than taking facts from the OP, people are merely blasting their opinions without any stuff to back them up. I'm currently the only one with mathematical evidence.

nope

x = 0.999...

>Define variable

10x = 9.999...
10x-x = 9

>Subtract one x.

9x = 9

>Divide both sides by 9.

x = 1

This topic is not about your loving handicapped pseudo-mathematics. Get out, unless you intend to discuss the topic at hand.

It's like troll physics. If you can't understand how it's wrong on a basic level, you shouldn't be discussing it to begin with.

what

Pay no attention to the handicap trying to troll the laws of mathematics.

We are not scholars in mathematics. You're asking the Blockland forums here. Nobody's going to do a whole lot of research to win a debate in the off-topic section.

what

Stocking used what I think is the method to find the fraction of a decimal, basic Algebra 1 stuff.

Then explain the above. まほ~

x = 0.999...
x*x = less than 0.999... because when we take 0.999... and multiply it by a decimal smaller than one (0.999...) it becomes smaller

1*1 = 1

if x = 1 like you say then x*x should be equal to 1 but in this case it is not

therefore 0.999... is not equal to 1

I fail to see how what I said was wrong. Convince me...
