Is a circle a polygon? WHILE CIRCLE HAS INFINITE SIDES.

Yes. Because I can see that your mathematical evidence, and the evidence provided by other people, proves it.
No. Because I looked at all the mathematical proof and have determined that in no plausible way is a circle a polygon.

Moreover, we like telling the truth.

Since the formula to find the area of a circle and the formula to find the area of a regular polygon end up equating each other, I proved it.

Although what you are saying is basically right it is still obviously wrong. I'm glad that you included "pretty much" when you replaced the variables to ones that were similar, but that's more or less where you're wrong. As I'm sure you know replacing variables with similar variables isn't exactly "correct math". In the end it comes down to the difference that one variable represents a circle and one does not. Which, in turn, would technically make your equations illegal...

Not quite sure if that makes sense besides stating the obvious.

the formula for finding the area is similar because they're both shapes, but by definition, a polygon has a set number of straight sides, while a circle is theoretically a perfect curve, which is why you actually find the area with a different formula than you do with a polygon.

And if you're going to treat it like a perfect curve with infinite "sides", what's the point in ever referring to it as a polygon?

you have proved nothing by saying this.

On another note, I believe there is another formula to find the area of a polygon.

While b = base || a = apothegm || n = number of sides

Area = ban/2

Oh god. That is coincidence, I swear.

ohlol

this topic makes my head hurt. If 0.999... = 1 then why don't they just round it off every time?
* SpreadsPlague is ignoring Stocking because weeaboos make me cry

but Iban is smart so I'll listen to him lol

Yeah, that's why.

Not because you just got railed by 3 different people for being a moron. まほ~

Yeah, that's why.

kind of how you're being railed by the forum for your annoying signature .. ?

Yeah, that's why.

you have proved nothing by saying this.

On another note,
If you're not going to listen to anybody that hasn't "proven" anything when you're talking about mathematics, why don't you just make a big loving "I'M RIGHT AND SHUT UP" sign and lock the thread before the first post?

I always thought it had both one side and infinite sides.

If it has one side, it is not a polygon, if it has infinite, it is.

When we look at the definition of a circle (a closed plane curve, every point of which is equidistant from a fixed point within the curve) we can see that it does indeed have points which are connected.

However, if it had infinite sides, all of the connective lines between points would have to be of an infinitely small size in order to fulfill it's equidistantness.

Does a line exist if it has no dimensions? Theoretically, maybe, but in our reality, it does not.

So I guess that realistically, a circle must be consistent of one rounded side, but perhaps theoretically, there could be an argument.

so you're not a weeaboo?  :cookieMonster:

WELL WHAT'S THE loving POINT OF CALLING IT A POLYGON

...

Can I change my vote to "HOW TO MATHS?".. I don't get people that enjoy talking about mathematics in their free time.

WELL WHAT'S THE loving POINT OF CALLING IT A POLYGON

mah boi

time to take a breather, yes?

Stocking, you're handicapped.

0.(9) will never equal 1. It comes close, it comes very close, but it will NEVER equal 1.

Now quit stuffting on this topic, idiot.

If you're not ignoring what I say you're trying to say that I didn't PROOOOVE ANYTHING

DO YOU EXPECT MY ARGUMENT TO PASS INTO MATHEMATICAL LAW BEFORE WE DISCUSS IT INTELLIGENTLY IN THE loving BLOCKLAND FORUMS

Too many stupid people. I fear this might have been overlooked.
