Scratch isn't a programming language, it's just an application that lets you make interactive art and what not using basic logic.

I played around with this in high school, it's kind of neat but the movement isn't very smooth.

You can't compare this to Byond.

Byond requires a brain because you need programming knowledge.


Anybody who can tell colors apart and read can make some stuffty game on this.

I use scratch almost every day.

This. I used Scratch last year. It's too overly simplistic to even consider it a game designer.
