Technology is taking turns now bro. Cellphones are portable computers now. iPods are the same. Etc etc.
You're missing my point.  I'm saying that as of now, Apple's focus isn't music anymore.  Its apps.

Apps apps apps.  That's it.  Their commercials?  Apps.

Because that's a revolutionary part of the iPhone/iPod touch.

The other iPods are still music players only with like brick breaker.

Imo, they are focusing on the apps too much.  They aren't working out ways to get a subscription plan, or music suggestion, or trying to raise the quality of the iPod's speakers/buds, they are just working on ways to open Angry Birds faster.

The iPod will never have awesome speakers because they're aiming for size, and the only thing its missing is bass, which would be a bitch if not impossible to incorporate. Also, the buds suck, but so do the zune ones.

And why would they make a music plan? Unless you plan on downloading 15 songs a month, there's no advantage.

Maybe it's just me but 1.26 dollars per song sounds ridiculous :O

Its .99, isn't it? That's what the price is for me..

Never bought anything from the online iTunes.

Now .99 is not that better, considering it's just a 0.27 decrease. With 15 dollars you can download infinite songs a month. Seems like a better deal.

You can download as many as you want for 15, but you only get to keep a certain number...like 20 or 15...so you end up paying close to the same price.

If it was really that much of a difference everyone would use Zune because it obviously costs less. But bottom line, they're the same price. Personally I prefer the pay one at a time because I don't want to pay 15 bucks for a month I don't want/need any more music, then that's 15 bucks to Microsoft for nothing. I would feel forced to find new music.

I disagree that it shouldn't be this way.
Apple perfected selling music online. They took a portable audio device, and opened it up to alternative functionality. That is a good thing. You yourself mentioned the downside of Zune not having apps.

Actually, you're paying 4 MORE dollars for 20 songs on a iPod.

Editto : Never used a Zune to buy anything, so I'm not completely sure about the " download infinite, keep 20" thing.

wat.  No, with the monthly plan, you get unlimited downloads.  You only keep the music as long as you keep the plan, but you do get to actually own and keep 10 songs monthly no matter what.

The music is soo much more important.

lol so if i want to keep the all the music i buy from zune i pay $15/mo forever? so if I live until i'm 80, i'd have to pay... let's see... about $11,340. Nice.

Well, that is your opinion. But Apple in no way made the audio playing functionality less to enable apps. They just added a new layer of features. If you don't want the apps, just get a cheaper audio based iPod. :I

Yes, but my point still remains valid to a certain extent. I'll still be spending 15 dollars a month even if I don't want any more music, or if I run out of space. I don't need new music that often.

And you'll probably, realistically, download about half of what that's worth.

I can appreciate the Zune plan might be good for people who absorb music like oxygen, but I'd bet for most people its more expensive using a monthly plan as opposed to a track by track basis.
