Author Topic: Audio Cap  (Read 1244 times)

Its really starting to annoy me how music / songs get exponentially louder as you get closer to its source. It gets to the point to be classified as "ear rape" which is horrible...

I used to have some type of audio glitch where all my audio was static. Sounds did not get louder when I got closer, nor did they fade as I retreated. I actually preferred that, except for the 'no fading' part...

There really needs to be an Audio Cap: a max volume that any bit of audio can reach but cannot pass. Cause, really. Who wants there player death sound to wake up the neighbors every time you die while crouching?

yeah, because if you're right up next to it, it's really loud.

Isn't this already part of your options? Well meh, that's not a cap, that's overall... Yes, should be. If you can get this suggestion directly to Badspot before he updates to v20 for RTB4, maybe.

Try ducking while shooting, building, painting, or near anything that makes noise and BAM. Loudness to the point it doesn't even sound like it should be.

Turn down your volume.

Turn down your volume.
it would be a real pain in the ass to turn your volume up and down whenever you got close/far away

If it never got louder as you got closer how will you ever find that annoying music brick? If it wasn't for that I may never find it.

Turn down your volume.
Every time I get close to a sound? Convenience is not part of your dictionary. I would also like to HEAR the game, not have it muted.

In not saying that feature is BAD, I'm just saying that it shouldn't be able to reach "Ear Rape" status.

I've never heard anyone else complain about this. It must be an issue with your computer, or your ears. Either that, or stop listening to everything with your volume so high.

Squideey and Mega are right. Turn down the music volume in your options dialogue.

I actually agree... Music can become so loud when close, but turning down the volume makes the rest inaudible. We do need some kind of way to make sure the volume won't go too high without silencing everything else...

I don't see why this isn't the solution. Just turn music specifically down.

... what? Music bricks are designed to output sound when you are near them, if being right up close is too loud turn it down slightly. Who cares if its inaudible when you are standing at the limit of the sound radius, if you wanna hear it properly go near it.

I'm with Nobody. I haven't experienced what he was with music, but some sounds can be ear-rapingly loud.
First person + accidentally bumping my /alarm bind = OW forget

In my case, turning down the volume to the point where I can /alarm in first person at a comfortable volume would make the rest of the game near-mute.

Yes, in these such situation.

I remember times where there would be 'badmins' and I'd decided to make annoying evented bricks against them. It'd constantly cycle glass break, alarm, and all that. The sound itself was too terrible to keep the sound on, but otherwise you couldn't find it.
