Author Topic: Do you think nuclear power is a good, or bad, thing?  (Read 5739 times)

I think it needs to be refined more before it can become the leading energy.

Doesn't look clean or safe.
:o
Isn't that just steam?

I'm not exactly knowledgeable about nuclear reactors, but don't they use a nuclear reaction to heat water, produce steam, and turn a turbine? Like other forms of power generation.

It's clean, efficient, and safe.

Yeah, clean apart from the hideous bi-product it creates.

Glad I live in a nuclear free country. The only radioactive thing we have are X-Rays. Hydroelectric power is the way to go.

Oh man because steam is a horrible pollutant.

Yeah, clean apart from the hideous bi-product it creates.
Shoot it out of a cannon into space!

That's all steam. Nuclear power plants make electricity and clouds.

Hydrogen requires the taking apart of water. It will never be an accessible energy source.

The nuclear waste that we simply throw underground certainly is.

Don't be silly now.

You didn't read his post did you.

I posted the wrong thing, please refer to the edit.

Yeah but that wasn't pictured. All you showed was a bunch of cooling towers with steam billowing out.

I don't understand any of this so I'm just going to nod my head and say okay.

*SIGH*

When people think NUCLEAUR WASTEE they think of glowing green vats of goo.

In reality they're large metal rods, and they're not even that radioactive, they're depleted. They can be disposed of safely by burying the rods after encasing them in concrete (safety precaution), they don't even need a "facility". Everyone thinks they're going to spout a third arm after being near one because they see all the radiation equipment we use to handle them and that creates irrational panic, they don't realize that the men wearing radiation suits deal with this stuff day in day out, not for 5 minutes.

I mean does anyone know how a power plant works? Do they think we just magically pull energy out of super dangerous elements?

It's a gigantic steam generator.

There's no pollution because it's steam, and radiation exists naturally in the universe, especially on earth (or ANYTHING THAT RESIDES IN SPACE). The sun emits so much radiation we can actually sail on it.

Sheath is a loving ignorant handicap.

Every time I go out to the Glamis sand dunes to ride quads, I see the steam or whatever coming off the towers of a nuclear reactor. If it doesn't interfere with my life, I just go with it :D

Sheath is a loving ignorant handicap.

No, you are.

Radioactive waste doesn't just disappear. Its buried, and it sits there for years and years due to a hideous half life. You know nothing if you think a few images and the testimony of a forum member seals the debate.

Nuclear power is dangerous, unrefined, and REMAINS to leave a horrible bi-product that exists for a long time. Its a bad albeit powerful source of energy, it should be abandoned.
