Author Topic: I need to delete some stuff. :I  (Read 1266 times)

Ah damnit.
How can I delete only what isn't important without individually deleting every file?
I think I remember the name of a program that did that... I can't recall, though.

Do you have any recovery discs?

No, we got the computer and a printer from one of my mom's friends, otherwise we got nothing.

Then you will have to uninstall manually unless you find any other options.

Find stuff you don't use, don't like, or don't really need.

Are there any free OSs you would suggest that I could put on my other drive?

Ubuntu

Where's a place that'll tell me how to install it, unless you know how and are willing to tell me?

You dual boot Ubuntu and XP.

It's been done before.

I normally just back stuff up to an external flash storage and then reinstall Windows from there, but whenever I buy a 40GB SSD I'll probably just make that my OS disk.

Why is Ubuntu such a large file.
Should I just buy one of them preloaded USB sticks?

Ubuntu is an OS.

Ubuntu is an OS.
Which is a file when downloaded you tit

That's a loving rip if you're actually thinking about getting one.
It sure is, but considering I can format it and then have a 4GB USB stick, I would be willing to buy it.

If you just go around deleting folders you're going to leave behind random entries in your system registry. It's easier to just uninstall stuff cleanly.

1. Go download CCleaner (http://www.piriform.com/ccleaner)
2. Run the program.
3. Click Tools.
4. Click Save to text file...
5. Attach install.txt to your next post.

We can probably pick out the useless programs from that list. As for the access denied errors, is this your computer? Do you share it with someone else? Do you have an administrator account or a regular user account? You shouldn't have to boot up a linux live cd to uninstall stuff, it boggles my mind that people would even suggest this.
