- Finally, a solution has come to Calder for the unreliable fission reactors: fusion reactors. Scientists yelled in joy when a fusion reactor finally sustained a stable reaction for more than a month. It is based of the previous failed designs, and slowly the fission reactors are being shutdown after fusion reactors are operating. So far, only the damaged plant near Zenith is being shut down, the cores being removed by robots. A fission plant is being built a quarter mile to the east of Zenith.

Nuclear fission reactors are not unreliable dipstuff.

Besides, nuclear fusion reactors are still experimental.

The fusion reactors on the 1st Earth haven't even been commercialized by then. They're expected by 2030, and if there was a space race going on, I'm pretty sure fusion technology was put on hold or perfected for space flight, not power producing.
