Yes, but it takes a lot of work for a video game to be an effective piece of art.

How can you claim this? Just because the mechanics of the game aren't the best, the models and maps are very much art.

Most videogames (and other mainstream entertainment forms) don't fit what I said earlier. The creators of most games are trying to create something that will sell. Sure, when it comes to graphical styles there might be some elements of creativity, but as a whole a videogame is not art.

So, simply because music, movies, and videogames need to appeal economically, it makes them not art? As if someone didn't put forward effort to create it? I understand specific cases of "manufactured" games and movies, but as a whole, you absolutely cannot argue that these mediums are not art.
